What supports this record?

The association page names John Eskdale among survivors and explicitly identifies him as a Royal Marine aboard Charybdis. This is corroborated by his Veterans' Foundation interview description and Guernsey Press coverage of the 2025 commemoration. Exact 1943 rank and service number have not been established; 'Commando' is not used as a rank or presumed qualification at the date of sinking.
